Wood Care Guide

Every handcrafted chopping board, butcher block and serving board is made from natural hardwood, meaning each piece will respond to its environment. Changes in temperature and humidity are completely normal, so regular care helps keep your board in excellent condition while preserving its natural beauty.

The good news is that maintaining your board is simple. With proper cleaning, occasional oiling and sensible day-to-day use, your handcrafted hardwood board will continue to provide many years of reliable service while developing even more character with age.

Clean Your Board Correctly

After each use, wash your Wooden Chopping Board by hand using warm water, mild washing-up liquid and a soft cloth or sponge. Dry it immediately with a clean towel and stand it upright so air can circulate around both sides. Never leave your board soaking in water, as excessive moisture can damage the wood over time.

Keep Your Board Oiled

Applying a food-safe oil every few weeks helps nourish the timber, reduces moisture absorption and enhances the natural colour and grain. Our Chopping Boards are finished using food-safe products, and regular re-oiling will help maintain both their appearance and durability. If the surface begins to look dry or dull, it's usually time for another light coat of oil.

Things to Avoid

Following our Wood Species Guide will help you understand the characteristics of different hardwoods, but every timber benefits from the same basic care. Never place your board in a dishwasher, leave it submerged in water or expose it to direct heat from radiators, ovens or prolonged sunlight. These simple precautions will help prevent warping, splitting and unnecessary drying.
